A Tree Planted by the Water

"How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers." Psalm 1:1-3 (NASB)

Autumn Tree

The call of the Christian Life is not to figure out life on our own but to let Christ live His Life in and through us. The Psalmist in Psalm 1 is referring to a man who is blessed and fruitful. But, this man didn’t get there by himself. This man had to make some choices such as not to: walk in the counsel of the wicked, stand in the path of sinners or to sit in the seat of the scoffers. The primary exhortation to be a blessed man in the Lord, is to delight in the law of the Lord and to meditate on it day and night. As we spend time in God’s word, reading, meditating, reflecting, re-reading and asking God to reveal Himself through the scripture, we will start to discover Jesus from Genesis to Revelation. Hebrews 10:7 says, “Then I said, 'Behold, I have come (In the scroll of the book

it is written of Me) To do Your will, O God.'"

The written word reveals the Living Word and as we delight and meditate in God’s word, the promise is that we WILL be like a fruitful tree planted by the water. This tree draws all of it’s water, nutrients and sustenance from the river. The river is the source of Life for this tree. If you want to be fruitful, be a person who is planted by the Living water, Jesus, and draw all your nutrients from Him (1 Cor. 10). As Jesus becomes the source of your Life, the promise is fruitfulness. Don’t worry about the scope and the timing of the fruit, that’s His business. But expect fruit as you spend time in the word discovering Jesus as He will transform you to His image with an increasing measure of Glory (2 Cor. 3:16-18).

Bible School

Mt. Albert Edward Venture

The students had a chance to go out on one of two Venture weekends. Venture weekends are an invitation to explore some of the West Coast's most beautiful land and sea scapes in smaller groups of 12-20 students & staff. These weekends away from the Main Body are utilized to hear and see all that creation declares about the character of Jesus Christ. These weekends become a starting point for many to begin making time to seek the Lord Jesus in His creation and this year was no different. Praise the Lord!

Part of the students' training is in practical duties around the property which is essential to community life. Each one has the opportunity to serve one another in a very practical way. The teaching from the classroom is worked out in these duties and helps to solidify what is being learned.

Outreach to neighbouring communities is beginning this week and is always a rich time of "giving out" of what has been received from our Lord Jesus. There are a variety of formal opportunities available such as ministry through music, ministry to different demographics of inner city, rural, youth, children & seniors. Just like the ways in which the Lord equips, He also calls and builds up His Kingdom in unfathomable and diverse ways. Its exciting to witness the students "come alive" in Christ Jesus as they put their trust in Him.
