Spring Break Ministries
March 14 - April 1
The Bible School student body ventures out for its Spring Break in one week. We look forward, with them, to what the Lord Jesus Christ has in store for them as they step out in faith to trust in Him. These two and a half weeks are an invaluable time as each one continues to learn what it means to be "doers of the word" (James 1:22-25) in obedience with hearts of thankfulness for all that Jesus Christ pleases to do in and through them. Whether they stay here, at Capernwray Harbour, return home, or travel the globe, we know that one thing is true: The Lord Jesus is with them.
An Overview of Planned Ministries for Prayer
About a dozen students are joining our staff team to facilitate various Guest Groups over the two weeks of spring break. A Cadet group, Men's Retreat and Artisan groups will join us for a day, two nights or a week. Each group's activities are based on customized programmes suited to their goals and needs. The outdoor classroom is also used during this time and becomes the platform for proclaiming Christ: Creator and Life!
Capernwray Harbour Ministry Tour:
The Capernwray Harbour Ministry Tour starts in Victoria BC and will travel throughout Northern Washington USA, back to BC through the Okanagan Valley (the fruit belt) and the BC Interior. This group will deliver the Word of God through music, testimonies and preaching. They will be a great encouragement to the many different congregations, youth groups and personal visits as they preach Christ wherever they go. Pray that many will rediscover Christ as Life.
Victoria (Vancouver Island BC):
8 students will be going to Victoria under the tutelage of Dan Rutherford, a local pastor. The purpose of the trip is to train the students in what it means to practically share Christ with people in an urban setting. They will work with other churches in the Victoria area as they do prayer walks, talk with city residents and witness how God is working in the city of Victoria.
The Homestead (WA USA):
This retreat and conference centre has been developed and is led by past students of Capernwray Harbour - Greg & Teresa Miller. A group of 5 students will help with maintenance, painting, spring cleaning and domestic duties to encourage the ministry of this family-run centre.
UGM's Women & Children's Shelter
(Seattle WA USA):
Hope Place is at the heart of this trip to Seattle WA USA. A group of 16 students & staff will be cooking & serving meals, cleaning, organizing, teaching Bible lessons and providing children's after school care while at Hope Place, Union Gospel Mission's Women & Children's Shelter.
Ralf Kempe (a long term staff member) leads this group of 6 students joining Wes and Serena Burdick & family (past students of Capernwray Harbour from Alberta). Together they will be involved in church services, building houses, daily sharing Christ at an orphanage and more as they seek to encourage the local church body in Jamaica. They extend a helping hand no matter what strengths or weaknesses they have as they are available to Christ Jesus who indwells them.
Around the Property
There's a new trail running through the fruit orchard at Capernwray Harbour. Next time you're here for a visit be sure to take a stroll and enjoy a rest along the way taking in the breathtaking view which is the beauty of the Southern Gulf Islands.
The Pump House Snack Shop has undergone a renovation this winter and its doors can hardly wait to welcome you this spring or summer! You might not be able to tell so much from the outside but just wait until you see how things have changed on the inside.
Two staff families grew in number over the past couple of months.
Liljan Talitha Galbraith joined Kevin & April, Micah & Caleb at the end of November. Micah & Caleb adore their new baby sister and smother her with their affections.
Silas & Lucas Bieber as well as their parents (Ted & Esther) welcomed their baby brother Aaron Elias into their family at the end of January.
Both babies arrived safe and sound and earlier than expected! We, as a staff family, are thrilled that they are both here and are so thankful to the Lord Jesus Christ for the blessings of new life within our growing Staff Family.
