Spring Break Ministries
March 10 - 28
The Bible School student body ventures out for its Spring Break tomorrow. We look forward, with them, to what the Lord Jesus Christ has in store for them as they step out in faith to trust in Him. These two and a half weeks are an invaluable time as each one continues to learn what it means to be "doers of the word" (James 1:22-25) in obedience with hearts of thankfulness for all that Jesus Christ pleases to do in and through them. Whether they stay here, at Capernwray Harbour, return home, or travel the globe, we know that one thing is true: The Lord Jesus is with them.
An Overview of Planned Ministries for Prayer
More than a dozen students are joining our staff team to facilitate various groups over the two weeks of spring break. School groups, Cadet groups, Women's Retreats, Artisan Groups and more will join us for a day, two nights or a week. Each group's activities are based on customized programmes suited to their goals and needs. The outdoor classroom is widely used during this time and becomes the platform for evangelistic ministry.
Hope Bay Bible Camp:
Not too far south, on another Gulf Island called Pender Island, 4 students will join past students of Capernwray Harbour, Dustin & Christy Heigh at Hope Bay Bible Camp to help prepare for their upcoming summer camp programme. Although this trip will mostly be work projects, there is no doubt that the students will be a huge blessing to the Pender Island community in the various ways they will be involved.
Province of Quebec (Canada):
1 of our students will join a dozen others from Capernwray Quebec to travel to rural towns and municipalities to participate in evangelistic outreach through word and deed. Spring cleaning, children's ministries, drama and music will be the main tasks for these students.
The Homestead (WA USA):
This retreat and conference centre has been developed and is led by past students of Capernwray Harbour - Greg & Teresa Miller. A group of 6 students will help with spring cleaning and plug in wherever necessary to encourage the family-run centre. The expression "Many hands make light work" is the theme here.
UGM's (Seattle WA USA)
Women & Children's Shelter:
Hope Place is at the heart of this trip to Seattle WA USA. 11 students will be cooking & serving meals, cleaning, organizing, teaching Bible lessons and providing children's after school care while at Hope Place, Union Gospel Mission's Women's & Children's Shelter.
At the Torchbearer Centre in Japan - Yamanakako, 8 students will be joined by 1 student from Capernwray Quebec. Along with practical work projects and spring cleaning there will be opportunity to serve and encourage local Japanese churches by joining them in their ministry programmes including outreach to mothers & children, members of a drug recovery program, and English conversation sessions too!
16 students will be joined by 3 from Capernwray Quebec to experience South India from the Kerala coastal backwaters to the lush Mountain Regions and Urban centres. Mutual fellowship with past students from Capernwray Harbour who have returned to India will be the biggest highlight as the students witness what it means to "Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit," (Matt. 28:19). Work projects, spring cleaning and evangelistic ministries to children and adults among neigbouring villages and tribal areas are a few of the activities that await those on this trip.
