In the cold winter days of 1979, in the middle of January, Charles and Marlene Fordham, together with their son Chris and their daughter Jessica, came to Capernwray Harbour.
Leasing the land on Thetis Island, they began to teach God's Word at the Capernwray Harbour Bible School, without any support from anyone, without much money to speak of, and determined not to beg for that which God would help them with.
Capernwray since then
Since that time, God has helped the Fordhams in their needs, and good staff, attentive students, and wonderful guests have visited from the four corners of the earth, and contributed to the success of the centre over the decades. These visitors have learned of God's Word, in the conferences and Bible School activities and courses.
The history of Capernwray Harbour spans over 30 years, and all of the facilities have grown and have been improved upon over these years, by those who willingly and ably have transformed the grounds and buildings to what they are now.
