Capernwray Bible School Workday
At Capernwray we live and learn together in community. Community
living is a wonderful platform for "hands on" learning and practical
application. From the head to the heart! Workday is one such context
built into the schedule to accommodate this opportunity.
Principles and standards relating to stewardship, leadership,
communication, work ethics and many more inter-personal skills are
realized in this way. Students and faculty work together to look after the
"garden" God has placed us in serving one another in direct response to
what He has done and is doing in our hearts. This is where the rubber
hits the road so to speak.

Capernwray Workday Highlights
Students will be instructed and supervised by Staff
while learning valuable new skills and personal disciplines. Some areas
of work will include lawns and gardens, woodshop, farm, kitchen,
domestics, outdoor facilities maintenance and office tasks. Workday is a
full day of work (8:45am-4:30pm) that takes place each Wednesday.
Students have opportunity to be involved in a variety of areas over the
course of the year and graduate from one work group to another—groups are rotated every few weeks. Workdays
are a healthy and refreshing change of pace from all of the in class
course learning that takes place during the rest of the week. Workday also
places individuals together who might not have otherwise had the
privilege of getting to know one another. The blessing of relationship
and conversation in this context is immense.
Workday remains for many students to be one of the many highlights of
their experience at Capernwray . |

Daily Duties on Thetis Island
Each student contributes to community life by
performing a daily chore, or duty, that takes about 45 minutes to
complete. These daily duties include anything from setting tables for
meals, to doing dishes after meals, to cleaning the common lounge areas
and bathrooms. In this way, each student learns that their individual
actions affect the whole Body for better or worse! Daily duties are one
of the most significant ways that students learn to practice the
principles of servanthood that they've discovered in the classroom courses. |

Sunday Evenings at Capernwray
Each Sunday we begin the week together with a formal
celebration of God's goodness to us. Students dress in semi-formal attire,
and attend a beautiful dinner prepared by our cooks. Afterward, students
and staff join together in the Lecture Hall for a formal meeting that
focusses on the character of God through the reading of Scripture,
singing, and sharing. Each year, the students find that Sunday evenings
are a highlight of the Bible School since they have the opportunity to
publicly share what the Lord Jesus has been teaching them personally
through His Word. It's a chance to come before the Lord Jesus as His Body
and worship Him together.

Intramural Sports at Capernwray
Much of what is discovered in bible study in class is learned in the outside of the classroom in the context of relationship with one another. One way to invest in community and to bring people together is through recreation. Intramural sports and other recreational events are organized on a regular basis thorough out the Bible School year. It's good clean wholesome fun. Sports include floor hockey, volleyball (indoor and sand), basketball, soccer and more. |
