Charlie Fordham
Director & Resident Lecturer
As Director of Torchbearers Capernwray Canada, Charlie Fordham provides pastoral leadership, training people for "FULL TIME" Christian service...regardless of their occupation through teaching and preaching God's Word locally and abroad. Charlie and his wife, Marlene, founded the ministry of Capernwray Harbour in 1979, arriving on Thetis Island with their young family in January of that year.
Born and raised in India, Charlie has been used by God to point countless individuals to the person of Jesus Christ so that they too might discover Him as Lord and Life!

Marlene Fordham Personnel Manager
Marlene Fordham has served the Lord wholeheartedly in the ministries of Capernwray Harbour since the work was founded by her and her husband, Charlie, in 1979. Her key involvement in the varied aspects of the Centre has given her a strategic platform in which to share the Life of the Lord Jesus with numerous guests, students and staff over the years.
Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, the Lord is pleased to use Marlene in her roles as Personnel Manager, teacher, friend, mother and grandmother.

Esther
Bieber Student Illness Supervisor
A past student of Bodenseehof, a Torchbearer Bible college in Germany, Esther first arrived to Capernwray Harbour to serve on the Support Staff team for the Summer of 2006. The Lord has led Esther to return to Capernwray Harbour to be a part of the full-time staff team starting in September 2007. Esther is married to Ted Bieber and mother to Silas. Together, they richly invest in the lives of the students and guests that they have contact with.

Ted Bieber Student Ministries, Outreach Coordinator & Conference Assistant
Following the guiding hand of the Lord in his life, Ted Bieber is serving in the area of student ministries during the Bible School year and assisting with summer ministries from May to August starting in September of 2006. Ted took a year out of his teaching career to attend the Bible School in 1993/94 and returned for a year of Leadership Training in 2004/05. Ted called Vancouver Island 'home' before moving east to Thetis Island.

Chris Fordham Conference Coordinator
Being raised at Capernwray Harbour, Chris Fordham has had the wonderful opportunity to experience and observe the transforming power and faithfulness of the Lord throughout the years. This in turn allows him to strategically share with guests and students Christ's Life often using 'Creation' as the classroom. Chris has been a student at Capernwray Hall in England as well as at Capernwray Harbour. He joined the staff team in 1996.
Chris is married to Susanne and together are enjoying raising their son, Seth.

Susanne Fordham Administrative
Assistant
Susanne Fordham has served in the role of Bible School Secretary/Registrar since 1997. An Alberta native, Susanne studied two years at Capernwray Harbour during which time she met her husband, Chris. Whether on the phone, in written correspondence or in person, Susanne seeks to encourage people in their relationship with Christ as well as caring for the practical needs of prospective & enrolled students.
With the Lord's joy and strength, Susanne serves in her ministry role while caring for her young son, Seth.

April Galbraith Audio Orders, Accounting Assistant
April Galbraith came to study at Capernwray Harbour for two years from Manitoba, where she was born and raised. April joined the Staff Team in 2003 and assists in the Accounting Department and with processing audio orders. Her kind, gentle spirit gives testimony to Christ's Life within her as she seeks to serve students, guests and staff.
April is married to Kevin and is enjoying being a mother to Micah & Caleb.

Kevin Galbraith Accounting Manager
With integrity of heart and a love of numbers from the Lord, Kevin Galbraith keeps the Accounting Department at Capernwray Harbour in good order. Kevin, with his wife April, joined that staff team in 2003. Raised in the Calgary area, Kevin attended both the One Year & Leadership Programmes at Capernwray Harbour. Kevin and April are happily raising their young sons, Micah & Caleb.

Vanessa Glover Domestics Coordinator
Entering her new role as Domestics
Coordinator in September 2009, Vanessa has a key role of influence as she interacts with
students on a daily basis overseeing their housekeeping duties. Vanessa completed both the
One Year and Leadership Training Programmes at Capernwray Harbour and brings her Idaho
State charm to the staff team. Her desire is to allow the Lord to work in and through her
as she serves others.

Samuel Howlett Maintenance & Conferencing Assistant
After serving faithfully during the
Conferencing Season for a number of summers as a Support Staff Volunteer and studying in
the Bible School for two years, Samuel Howlett became a member of the full time Staff Team
in September 2009. Originally from England, Sam is quickly making Canada his home away
from home and is excitedly looking forward to his upcoming wedding in August 2010.

Lawrence Jensen Assistant Director, Resident Lecturer
Lawrence Jensen has been on staff since 1990 and currently serves as Assistant Director and Principal of the Bible School. He is husband to Lori and father to Daniel and Mary; the joys of his life. Lawrence is effectively involved in the lives of young and old alike, in teaching, preaching, discipling, encouraging and leading others to discover Christ as Life.
Lawrence came to Capernwray Harbour from Alberta as a student where the Lord saw fit to call him into full-time ministry.

Lori Jensen Accounting Assistant
Lori Jensen came to Capernwray Harbour originally as a student from Manitoba and has served on staff since 1991. Lori has been involved in various practical areas of the ministry over the years and has encouraged so many in the Lord with a kind word, a cup of tea or one of her 'island' famous cookies.
Married to Lawrence Jensen, Lori is a nurturing mother to their two children, Daniel & Mary and seeks to serve & glorify Jesus Christ through her life.

Jacqueline Johnson Kitchen Assistant
A native of Washington State, Jacqueline Johnson makes a wonderful addition to the kitchen staff after studying in the Bible School for the 07/08 year and serving in the area housekeeping for the Summer of 2008. As Jacqueline seeks to perfect her culinary skills, she is sure to be an encouragement to many, testifying to the 'joy of the Lord' being her strength.

Elizabeth Joslin Administrative Assistant & Conference Registrar
Elizabeth Joslin has served in the position of Conference Registrar since joining the staff team in 1996. Her responsibilities include assisting with personnel & publicity details for the Centre. Whether she is registering conference guests, or corresponding with future staff members, her attention to detail and concern for others is an outpouring of the love & faithfulness she has received from the Lord Jesus.
Elizabeth is from Calgary, AB and spent two years at Capernwray Harbour as a Bible School student before the Lord called her to become a full-time staff member.

Ken Karg Maintenance Assistant
An 97/98 alumni of Capernwray Harbour, Ken Karg returned to Capernwray in 2008 as a second-year student and has followed this up by joining the full time staff team in 2009 as a maintenance assistant. With training and almost 10 years of experience as an Automotive Technician, Ken's wide skill set will be put to excellent use as he serves the Lord Jesus with his hands and heart. Ken grew up and was settled in the Richer, Manitoba area before making Thetis Island home. He continues to be an avid outdoor enthusiast.

Ralf Kempe Estate Manager
Born and raised in East Germany, Ralf Kempe came to Christ in 1992. He attended Schloss Klaus in Austria prior to attending the LTS Programme at Capernwray Harbour and joining the staff team in 2001. Whether supervising maintenance projects or transforming earth and rock into celebrations of God's handiwork, Ralf relies on the Lord's wisdom and strength to share His Life with others in the daily tasks he finds set before him.
Ralf is married to Ruth and is the proud father of Anna & Timothy.

Ruth Kempe Community Outreach Assistant
Serving at Capernwray Harbour since 1993, Ruth shares the Life of Christ, in very practical ways, with the greater Thetis Island Community through organizing the 'Community Help' student outreach during the Bible School year. Ruth came to Canada after serving at Capernwray Hall in England to take part in the One Year Programme. She faithfully served in the Capernwray Harbour kitchen for years before the Lord ushered her into her roles as wife to Ralf and mother to Anna & Timothy.

Jay Martens Asia Practicum Coordinator
With a God-given desire to share the good news of Jesus Christ with people groups in Asia and specifically India, Jay spends a majority of the year away from his Capernwray Harbour home-base coordinating the intern programme involving a number of the Torchbearer Centres in the Asia/Pacific region. Jay came as a student to Capernwray Harbour for 2 years from Vineland, Ontario and became a staff member in 2005.

Stephanie Martens Asia Practicum Assistant Coordinator
Stephanie Martens joined the Capernwray Harbour Staff in September 2008. Alongside her husband Jay, Stephanie shares the life and love of the Lord Jesus in Canada & abroad assisting with key components of the Asia Practicum Programme. Stephanie studied at Capernwray Harbour for one year and was an intern in the programme she now helps to lead.

Tara Petriw's friendly face
has greeted many a student and guest since she started
working in the Capernwray Harbour Office in 2006. Tara
completed a total of two years of study in the Bible
School and returned to Capernwray Harbour after living
in Alberta. Tara expresses the joy of the Lord with
those she has opportunity to interact with.

James Reimer Maintenance & Farm Assistant
James Reimer was welcomed to the staff team at Capernwray Harbour in 2004 after a year of study in the Bible School. James' love of the Lord Jesus is expressed through his ever-present smile and the diligent attention he gives to his maintenance tasks and the livestock under his care. James lived in Manitoba prior to coming to Thetis Island.

Rachel Sing Receptionist
She's the friendly voice that greets
guests, students and staff who phone or visit the Main
Office at Capernwray Harbour; Rachel Sing has taken
on the all-important role of Receptionist as of September
2009. Her transition from student to staff has been
an easy one as she responded in faith and obedience
to the leading of the Lord Jesus to serve Him in this
capacity. Rachel's calm and gentle personality is a
great asset in a busy office environment. A Vancouver
Island native from birth, Rachel is never too far from
her family home.

Anne Snyder Support Staff
The gentleness of Christ is evident in Anne Snyder's life and is a comfort to those students feeling 'under the weather'. Whether treating symptoms or arranging medical appointments, Anne's desire is to point the hearts of those she's in contact with to the 'Great Physician', Jesus Christ. Anne has served at Capernwray, along with her husband Doug, since 1999 after a year of study in the Bible School.

Doug Snyder Support Staff
Doug Snyder giving his 'retirement years' to the Lord and came to Capernwray Harbour as a student with his wife, Anne, from Ontario in 1998. Since that year of study, Doug has invested time and energy, with Christ's equipping, into accounting and research projects for the ministry as well as building relationships with students and staff. One of his greatest joys is to see individuals grow in their Christian walk as they respond in faith to Jesus Christ.

Charlene Toplensky Gardener, Snack Shop Supervisor Weeding, watering and flower arranging has filled Charlene Toplensky's days since her and her husband, John, took over maintaining the beautiful gardens at Capernwray Harbour. Since joining the staff team in 2006, Charlene has not only enjoyed encouraging plants and flowers to grow but also students & guests in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Charlene has recently taken over the responsibility of supervising the snack shop/bookstore on campus.

John Toplensky Gardener
John Toplensky, with his wife Charlene, studied for one year at Capernwray Harbour and has since taken on the task of maintaining the gardens throughout the property as of September 2006. Prior to moving to Thetis Island, John and Charlene lived and worked in Three Hills, Alberta and are delighted to share Christ with those who stop to admire God's garden handiwork.

Karin Vallee Cook's Assistant
Coming to Capernwray Harbour from Parksville on Vancouver Island, Karin Vallee began her kitchen training at the Centre in September of 2006.
After concentrated studies in God's Word for 2 years in the Bible School, Karin is eager to share both practical and spiritual truths of the Christian Life.

Christine Wichert Bible School Administration, Resident Lecturer & Summer Youth Ministries Coordinator
Christine Wichert has had the reward of seeing student's lives transformed by Jesus Christ as they respond in faith and obedience to Him in her student-focused role in the Bible School. Christine, in her precise and thought-provoking manner, is used by the Lord to proclaim and teach the truths found in His Word both in the classroom and in her interaction with students and summer guests.
Christine was raised in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario and returned to Capernwray Harbour in 1996 after her university studies.

Amie Wouda Domestics Assistant
Serving for numerous summers as part of the Children’s Ministry, and studying in the Bible School for 2 years, Amie has joined the full-time staff team in September 2007 to serve guests and students in very practical and loving ways. Amie is originally from Manchester, England but now makes her home at Capernwray Harbour with her husband Andy and their daughter Isabelle.

Andy Wouda Food Services Manager
God has gifted Andy Wouda with a love of turning every day meals into culinary creations. After receiving 2 years of Bible training at Capernwray Harbour, Andy worked in the Capernwray Harbour kitchen for one year and returned to Summerland, BC where he was raised after his family emigrated from Holland. Andy returned on staff in 2003 and is using his role as Food Services Manager to serve the Lord giving keen attention to the nutritional and aesthetic aspects of each meal prepared.
